About the Department
The main objective of Sports and Physical Education Department is to Inculcate sense of discipline, co-operation, integrity, social harmony, fitness and sportsmanship spirit among students. In addition to the academics, the college has also created necessary facilities for recreation and all round development of students.
Dr. Inderjit Singh Head, Department of Physical Education and Sports have honour to represent Indian Basketball team and won Gold Medal in International Masters Basketball Championship held at Colombo, SriLanka in March 2024. Dr Inderjit Singh captained the Punjab Masters Basketball team and secured Gold Medal in National level Khelo Masters Games held at New Delhi.
Achievements
Over the years, our students have won medals in the international, national and inter-university sports competitions.
- Our college’s players have honour of becoming the best shooter (Shooting), fastest runner (Athletics), best attacker (Volleyball), best raiders (Kabaddi) and best stoppers (Kabaddi) of the Guru Nanak Dev University.
- Our college’s players have captained Guru Nanak Dev University’s Kabaddi N/S, Basketball, Volleyball, Cross-country, Kabaddi P/S and Wrestling teams in the All India Inter-university tournaments.
- The college has earned distinction in the field of sports by winning Guru Nanak Dev University Kabaddi P/S tournaments for eleven times (five times consecutively – once, three times consecutively twice).
- Our college have secured winners positions in Basketball, Cross-country, Wrestling and Tug of War and runners-up and second runners-up positions in Volleyball, Handball, Basketball, Kabaddi P/S & N/S, korfball, Wrestling G/R & F/S, Shooting, Cross-country, Athletics, Tug of war, Boxing, Power-lifting, Weight-lifting, Best physique, Badminton and Judo.
- Our college’s Kabaddi legends Sandeep Singh Nangal Ambian, Mangat Manggi and Kuljit Singh Malsian have brought laurel to the college and country by winning awards of best Stopper and raider in the World Kabaddi Championships.
